The First hold: Extended postpartum support in your home

4 Hours of Extended In-Home Postpartum Support

The First Hold is a deeper layer of postpartum home care, offering extended, nurse practitioner–led support for families who want time for recovery, feeding, and emotional wellbeing to truly land.

This extended postpartum home visit is designed for families who need more than a single check-in — allowing care to unfold slowly, adapt to real needs, and provide continuity during early recovery.

Who This Extended Postpartum Care is for

The First Hold is ideal for families who:

Want more than one postpartum check-in

Have feeding or lactation concerns that need time to explore

Want ongoing physical recovery monitoring

Feel most supported when care is not rushed

What’s Included In your postpartum visit

Across four hours (delivered as one longer visit or two shorter visits), your Nurse Practitioner provides:

  • ongoing assessment of postpartum physical recovery
  • feeding and lactation support across more than one feed
  • emotional wellbeing and nervous system support
  • partner education and involvement
  • care that adapts as needs unfold

Every visit is individualized based on your recovery, your baby’s needs, and what feels most supportive for your family.

What Extended Postpartume Care Feels Like

This level of care feels slower and more spacious.

Support unfolds across moments, not snapshots — allowing guidance to integrate gently into real life.

Families often describe this level of postpartum home care as grounding, reassuring, and deeply supportive.

Why Extended Postpartum Support Matters

Healing and feeding don’t happen on a schedule.

The First Hold allows patterns to be noticed, questions to surface naturally, and care to evolve in a way that feels supportive rather than overwhelming.

This model of extended postpartum home care provides continuity, reassurance, and professional presence during the most vulnerable weeks after birth.
