Latched & Bloom is a nurse practitioner–led postnatal wellness centre providing in-home clinical care for postpartum recovery, infant feeding, newborn support, and maternal mental health. We support the whole mother–baby dyad during the early postpartum period and beyond.
Our care is designed for pregnant and newly postpartum families who want calm, continuous, professional support at home — whether for recovery after birth, feeding challenges, newborn care, or emotional wellbeing.
We provide relational, nurse-led care that focuses on both physical and emotional health. Rather than one-off visits, we create a care pathway so families feel supported, not rushed or fragmented.
Your care is provided by Simone Johnson, a Nurse Practitioner with experience in labour & delivery, NICU nursing, pediatric primary care, lactation, and maternal mental health.
A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a registered nurse with advanced clinical training who can assess, diagnose, treat, prescribe, and provide primary care. NPs work autonomously and collaboratively to deliver comprehensive healthcare.
Yes. All postnatal care is provided in your home across Durham Region and the GTA.
No. Families can book directly into any level of care, including The Sanctuary.
That said, all care begins with a clinical assessment so we can understand your recovery, your baby’s needs, and how best to support you. This may occur during your first visit within The Sanctuary or through an initial First Touch or First Hold visit.
Our role is to recommend a care pathway based on what feels most supportive for you — not to place families into a fixed structure.
Yes. Each visit can focus on your specific needs — feeding, recovery, newborn care, or emotional support.
The Holding Space is ongoing care for families who have already completed an initial visit and want continued support as recovery and newborn needs evolve.
Latched & Bloom provides private postnatal clinical care in addition to publicly funded healthcare services.
Under Ontario’s healthcare system, Nurse Practitioners working in independent private practice are not reimbursed by OHIP for postnatal, in-home, or wellness-based care. This means families pay privately for these services, similar to other extended healthcare supports such as physiotherapy, psychotherapy, or private nursing.
Our care is designed to complement — not replace — OHIP-covered services. Families continue to access all publicly funded medical care (such as hospital care, laboratory tests, imaging, and specialist referrals) through the public system.
Latched & Bloom offers extended, relational postnatal support that goes beyond what is currently funded under the Canada Health Act, focusing on recovery, infant feeding, maternal mental health, and newborn adjustment in the home.
Many families choose private postnatal care for:
continuity of care
longer, unrushed visits
emotional and mental health support
in-home convenience
prevention and early intervention
Some extended health benefits plans may reimburse services under private duty nursing or nurse practitioner care. Coverage varies by insurer.
Yes. We provide detailed invoices and medical necessity letters to support extended benefits claims.
Postnatal care may qualify as a medical expense for tax purposes. Families can submit receipts when filing their income taxes under eligible healthcare expenses.
You can book a consultation through our website or by contacting us directly.
We provide in-home care across Durham Region and the Greater Toronto Area.
Visits are typically 2 or 4 hours to ensure care is never rushed.
That’s exactly what the consultation call is for — to explore your needs and create a care plan together.
We’re happy to talk through your situation and help you explore what level of support feels right.
